By downloading, installing, or using the Naruhodo mobile application ("App", "we", "us", or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
Naruhodo is an educational mobile application that helps users learn Japanese vocabulary and phrases through short clips sourced from Japanese media, paired with furigana, romaji, and English translations. The service includes:
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may only use the App with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App on a device that you own or control, strictly for your personal, non-commercial educational use.

The App presents short excerpts from third-party Japanese media (including but not limited to anime series) for educational and language-learning purposes. This use is intended as fair use / fair dealing under applicable copyright law (17 U.S.C. § 107 in the United States; comparable provisions in other jurisdictions) based on:
All rights in the underlying third-party content remain with the respective rights-holders. If you are a rights-holder and believe that specific content should be removed, please contact us at the address in Section 13.
The App currently does not allow users to upload or submit public content. All vocabulary, preferences, and progress data you generate stays on your device unless explicitly synced via iCloud per Apple's privacy rules.
The Naru brand maintains social media accounts on platforms including YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Content published to these accounts is created by the Naruhodo team using our content pipeline and is intended for educational purposes. Your use of those third-party platforms is governed by the respective platform's terms. We are not responsible for content on third-party platforms outside our own accounts.
Certain premium features may be offered via in-app purchase or subscription managed through Apple's App Store. Pricing, billing, and cancellation are handled by Apple in accordance with the App Store's terms. Refunds, if applicable, must be requested through Apple.
The Naruhodo name, logo, app design, original animations, original compositions, and codebase are owned by us and protected by copyright and trademark law. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right in our intellectual property beyond the license to use the App as described above.
The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Educational content is provided for general language-learning purposes and is not a substitute for professional instruction or formal certification.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Naruhodo, its operators, or its contributors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, arising out of or in connection with your use of the App.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without cause or notice, including if we believe you have violated these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising out of or relating to the App or these Terms shall be resolved in the competent courts of Germany.
